It might be the size of a fist but the heart performs unlike any other part of the human body. Apart from pumping blood, it also provides oxygen to the blood which is then transported to the rest of the body. Did you know that the average heart beats around 80 times per minute? That makes around 42 million times a year!
If you think that is crazy and awesome, check out these facts about the human heart. You’ll be surprised.

When you compare the heart of an infant with the heart of an adult, you’ll see that the numbers of the cells are the same in both organs but the heart of an adult will be larger than that of an infant. This means that the heart tissues expand as you grow older.
3. Female heart is smaller and works harder

The heart develops and starts beating at around 4 weeks into the baby’s conception and thereafter, it continues to beat for the rest of your life.
