The Walmart Holiday Meal Basket Is Back and It’s Still Ridiculously Cheap
Thanksgiving is one of the biggest food events of the year, but in 2025, it’s also one of the priciest. Food costs across the U.S. remain stubbornly high, and grocery prices have climbed more than 25 percent since 2019. According to the American Farm Bureau Federation, a traditional Thanksgiving meal for ten averaged $58.08 in 2024, up significantly from pre-pandemic levels.
Families planning to host this year have been feeling the squeeze at the checkout line and making every discount count more than ever. That’s what makes Walmart’s latest announcement a welcome surprise. The retailer is once again offering its Holiday Meal Basket for 2025, and somehow, it’s still priced under $40.
A Full Feast for Less Than $40
The Walmart Holiday Meal Basket is back for 2025, the retailer’s most affordable Thanksgiving bundle since the program began in 2022. For less than $4 per person, shoppers can bring home more than twenty traditional holiday items designed to feed ten people.
The centerpiece is a Butterball turkey priced at just $0.97 per pound, the lowest Walmart has offered since 2019. The deal runs through December 25 and is available both in stores and online.
Walmart’s cost-cutting strategy relies on a smart mix of national brands and its private label, Great Value. The basket includes Stove Top stuffing, Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom Soup, Kinder’s Crispy Fried Onions, and Great Value pantry essentials like dinner rolls, pie crusts, and gravy mix.
Fresh russet potatoes, baby carrots, and cranberries round out the basket. Shoppers can order it all in one click online, with free express delivery for first-time pickup or delivery customers.

This year, Walmart has expanded its options beyond the classic turkey meal. New variations include gluten-free and high-protein baskets, as well as a Prime Rib version for those craving something different. Each bundle comes with coordinated sides and desserts.
John Furner, Walmart U.S. President and CEO, said the company aims to help families celebrate the holidays while maintaining quality, generous portions, and tradition.
Simple Shopping, Big Value
Walmart’s 2025 Holiday Meal Basket can be found on its dedicated Thanksgiving page, where all items are preloaded for quick checkout. Customers can choose curbside pickup or home delivery. At checkout, shoppers can also donate to The Salvation Army to help provide meals to families in need.
As costs continue to rise and shoppers look for ways to stretch their budgets, Walmart’s return of this deal proves that hosting a classic Thanksgiving dinner is still within reach.
