McDonald’s Is Now Selling 200 Nuggets for Only $79.95
A single McDonald’s location has gone viral after listing a massive 200-piece Chicken McNuggets order for $79.95, a menu item so oversized and oddly priced that it immediately grabbed attention online. Screenshots of the listing began circulating in January 2026, sparking reactions ranging from disbelief to jokes about nugget-related life choices.
Why the Price Is Turning Heads

At $79.95, the 200-piece order works out to roughly $0.40 per nugget. On its own, that figure does not sound outrageous. The problem comes when it is compared to standard nugget pricing.
In many parts of the United States, a 20-piece order typically costs between $6.00 and $9.00, while 40-piece options often drop the per-nugget price even further. Buying multiple smaller boxes would usually be cheaper than committing to this mega order.
The pricing mismatch is the core reason the listing took off online. Bulk food orders are expected to yield lower unit costs for customers. This one does the opposite. Instead of functioning as a value bundle, the 200-piece option seems to be designed for spectacle rather than savings.
There is also an important caveat. This is not a nationwide deal rolled out by McDonald’s. Pricing varies widely by location because most restaurants are independently owned franchises. The flexibility allows individual locations to list unconventional menu items at prices that make sense for their operations.
How the Internet Is Reacting
Online reactions have been predictably chaotic. Some people see the order as perfect for a party, a game night, or a group hangout where chaos is part of the plan. Others have framed it as a personal challenge or a questionable solo decision that requires backup.
A large share of the commentary focused on the math, noting that grocery stores and warehouse clubs sell frozen nuggets by the pound for a fraction of the cost.
Former fast-food workers also weighed in, explaining that cooking 200 nuggets is not as dramatic as it sounds. Nuggets cook quickly and are held in warming drawers with strict time limits. Multiple orders of that size during a rush, however, would quickly become a kitchen nightmare.
