A Discreet Note Left on a Takeaway Order Has the Internet Laughing
A simple takeaway receipt ended up becoming a global joke after a short delivery instruction made its way online. The message was written for a delivery driver, but it quickly reached thousands of screens once shared on social media.
The line read: “Knock quietly, I’m supposed to be on a diet.”
The note was attached to a takeaway order placed at Munchies Eston, a UK-based restaurant run by Waseem Banaras. It moved fast once it hit meme pages and viral accounts, resurfacing again this year.
The Order Made It Even Better
The food order attached to the note made the whole thing hit harder.
Reports say the customer ordered a Texas BBQ personal pizza, a waffle covered in double chocolate ice cream and chocolate sauce, and a can of Dr Pepper. People immediately started replying with jokes and stories about their own “secret” delivery notes.
Restaurant owner Waseem Banaras posted a photo of the receipt online with a caption promising the customer their “secret is safe with us.”
The Driver Actually Followed the Note
Delivery apps give customers a tiny space to type instructions, and people use them for everything from directions to jokes. Notes about doorbells, sleeping babies, roommates, or late-night cravings show up all the time.
According to reports tied to the story, the delivery driver did exactly what the receipt asked and handled the drop-off carefully.
