Whether you are pregnant with twins or a random internet surfer, there is nothing more fascinating about two children that look the same, talk the same, and sometimes, even dress the same. Just like Hollywood loves the Olsen and Sprouse twins, just about any other twin pair will get tons of love and attention (at least when they’re young).
The rate of twin births has only gone up in recent years, thanks to advancements in science and healthcare. The CDC reports that over the past 30 years, twin births have gone up by a whopping 70%, which means that out of 1000 U.S.-born babies, 32% are twins.
1. Co-criminals
Some research evidence suggests that if one twin happens to engage in criminal activity, there is a high chance that the other twin would also follow suit. A good example would be the twins Jasmiyah and Tasmiyah Whitehead who were named the ‘twisted twins’ after they committed the brutal crime of murdering their own mother.
2. Identical Twins Are Not As Common As You Think
One might believe that identical twins are pretty common but the reality is far from that. In the United States of America, only 3% of the population are twins but only 0.3% of those twins happen to be identical.
3. An Eight-Limbed Goddess?
In India, in the year 2005, a girl was born with 8 limbs–and this was no mutation. In fact, it was her unborn twin that had fused into her body, resulting in her being born with her twin’s arms and legs. The locals began worshiping her and considered her a deity. However, in 2008, her parents took her to the doctors who then prepared a team of professionals to help the little girl lead a normal life. She went on to make a full recovery.
Aren’t these facts on twins interesting? They sure are for us.
